Southeastern Railway is introducing an enhanced timetable starting Sunday, December 15th, featuring an additional 44 weekday services, which amount to 220 extra weekly trips. Southeastern is encouraging customers to check their train schedules in advance to accommodate these changes, which follow a post-pandemic record of 431,000 journeys through its London terminals on December 5th.

Key Service Enhancements

The new timetable focuses on enhancing services across key routes:

  • Cannon Street ‘Rounder’ Services: An additional 12 round-trip services have been added on the Woolwich and Sidcup lines to offer greater weekday flexibility.
  • Victoria-Orpington Off-Peak Trains: Off-peak services between Victoria and Orpington via Herne Hill are now increased to four trains per hour, ensuring an all-day Metro-style service.
  • Charing Cross-Maidstone East Extensions: Two evening services from Charing Cross to Maidstone East will now continue to Ashford International.

These updates aim to ease congestion and provide passengers with more reliable options during peak and off-peak travel times.

Rolling Stock Upgrade on Maidstone East Line

The improvements coincide with the introduction of new rolling stock on the Maidstone East line. Beginning December 15th, two trains from a transfer of 13 Class 377 units will be in service.
