Sphere Entertainment Confirms End Of London Project – Pollstar News
Sphere Entertainment Co. released a statement Jan. 8 confirming that it is going to pull out of London for good, meaning the English capital won’t see the construction of this technological wonder venue, which has been vowing audiences in Las Vegas, Nevada, since opening in September 2023.

However, as impressive as the Sphere’s external LED screen looks in Vegas, London’s decision-makers feared it would adversely affect inhabitants of the densely populated Stratford area in the London borough of Newham, where the venue was supposed to be built.
It’s the reason London Mayor Sadiq Khan rejected the plans for the MSG Sphere in November 2023.

A Sphere Entertainment statement back then suggested, that the team had made their peace with the mayor’s decision, even if the final word in the matter still lay with London’s secretary of state for leveling up, housing and communities, Michael Gove.
The most recent statement from a Sphere Entertainment spokesperson confirms:
“We have informed Mr. Gove that our decision not to move forward with our plans for
Sphere in London stands, and we will not be participating in the call-in process. We
would like to thank all of those who worked earnestly to bring this project to London.
“We are committed to continuing to work collaboratively with forward-thinking cities around the world who are serious about bringing this next-generation entertainment experience to their communities.”
