The Prime Minister has defended the decision to cut the winter fuel allowance for pensioners, thousands of which will struggle and will be forced to make horrible decisions, such as eat or heat.
The cost of living crisis will get far worse with Labour’s economic decisions which will hit millions of households across the UK.
Sir Keir Starmer said on Monday that he does not want to “cut” the winter fuel allowance, but the out of touch Prime Minister said in his defence that we have to “fix the foundations” of the British economy.
Starmer said it is a “tough decision” to build a better Britain and claims Labour was elected to into government to fix the economy.
Speaking to reported Starmer said, “I don’t want to cut the Winter Fuel Allowance. I don’t think any Government wants to do that.
“But we’ve got to fix the foundations of our economy. And that’s what this is all about, making sure that we fix the foundations.
And then having done that, that we can build a better future that pensioners and so many other people voted for in this election.
“So this is a tough decision, not a decision I want to make, but absolutely determined will stabilise the economy and fix the foundations. And then on that we will build a better Britain, that we’re elected into government with a strong mandate to bring about.”
