Starmer takes freebies so he can see ‘Arsenal play’ otherwise it would ‘cost the taxpayer a fortune’ – London Business News | Londonlovesbusiness.com

The Prime Minister who once told Rishi Sunak he is out of touch with the people in England has argued he takes freebies so he can see “Arsenal play” so there is no “cost to the taxpayer.”

Sky News has seen the Westminster accounts which shockingly reveals he is receiving two and half times more freebies and gifts than other MPs.

Sir Keir Starmer who has defended his winter fuel payment cut has argued that without the freebies it will “cost the taxpayer a fortune” so he can watch Arsenal play.

The Westminster account shows that Starmer has received more gifts and freebies within the hospitality sector since December 2019 than other MPs, this totals an eyewatering £107,145.

He declared £12,588 of freebies from the Premier League, two Euro final tickets at £1,628, Taylor Swift tickets at £4,000 and many Arsenal tickets to watch matches which comes to more than £6,000, Sky News reports.

Speaking to ITV London the Prime Minister insists the “security advice is that I can’t go to the stands,” and if he did this would cost the “taxpayer a fortune” with “additional security.”

To justify this to hard working people who are choosing between eating and heating he stated, “I’ve been offered tickets elsewhere in the ground where it’s more secure.

We don’t have to use taxpayer money on additional security. And that’s why I’ve taken the decision that I have.”

He adds that he believes “I think most people watching this would say, well, fair to think that.”

He was asked what does he think the public will be thinking over the amount of tickets he receives which costs more than most people earn, he claims, “most people” will agree what he is doing is “fair.”

Starmer with a dead pan face said, “I don’t think I can impose that on the taxpayer,” he blatantly added, “So I’ve taken up the offer to sit elsewhere in the stands so I can still see Arsenal play.

The Prime Minister has been branded an “ivory tower leader” as he said earlier on Thursday “If I don’t accept a gift of hospitality, I can’t go to a game.”

A member of the Labour government told Sky News that the amount of freebies Starmer and his family are receiving is just “nuts,” adding that these freebies “should be banned.”
