This year will mark the start of a brand new all-electric ferry service – Orbit Clipper – which will transport people between Rotherhithe in south east London and Canary Wharf, starting from March 2025.
The new ferry will have space for 150 people and 100 bikes, and will cross the river every 10 minutes on weekdays and every 15 minutes on the weekends, offering a new way to cross the river for commuters and cyclists.
New eco-friendly buses
Go-Ahead will be introducing 1,000 new electric buses in 2025 which will run from Orpington Garage from early 2025.
Some of the routes where these new buses will be introduced include the 233 bus running between Eltham and Swanley, and the R1, R3 and R4 bus routes which serve the Bromley and Orpington areas.
New DLR trains
One update Londoners are expecting in the future is the addition of new air-conditioned DLR carriages which are planned to be added to the network.
The new DLR trains were expected to begin running by the end of 2024, however they have been delayed, so it isn’t certain whether we will see them being added in 2025 or not.
