The UK’s priciest pints revealed, as London suffers over 40% price hike in just three years – London Business News | Londonlovesbusiness.com
Whether it’s a hot summer’s day or a frosty winter’s night, there’s nothing like a refreshing sip of beer. But stepping out for a couple of pints can cost you a pretty penny.
In fact, a national comparison of the price of a draught pint of beer in the UK by Stocklytics has revealed that London is the most expensive place to get a pint in the UK, averaging at £6.50, and nearly £1 more expensive than anywhere else in the country.
By comparison, the average cost of a pint in London in 2021 was just £4.50. That’s a huge increase of over 44% in just three years.
But it’s not just the capital that serves up soaring costs. Belfast in Ireland is also a pricey spot, with an average pint costing £5.55, while in Bristol, a beer will set you back £5.25.
It’s quite the price increase from Blackpool and Southend-On-Sea, where a pint costs on average just £3.25.
Neil Roarty, an analyst from Stocklytics commented on the research, “Beer prices are a good indicator of the cost of living, and this analysis shows how expensive London is compared to other large towns and cities in the UK. For the average pint to be nearly £1 – or 20% – more expensive than anywhere else, it demonstrates the additional price pressure that’s on those who live, work, and travel to the Capital.
“Elsewhere, staycation hotspots like Southend-on-Sea and Blackpool can offer fantastic value for savvy spenders looking to save on a night out.”
