Two in hospital after collision involving stolen vehicle: London police

A London man is charged and two people were taken to hospital after a collision involving a stolen vehicle, police say.

It was about 10 a.m. Sunday when London police say several people called 911 to report a fast-moving vehicle on Base Line Road West that eventually collided with a second vehicle at the busy Base Line-Wellington Road intersection.

London police say the speeding vehicle had been stolen from a business in the area of Dearness Drive and Bradley Avenue in the city’s south end.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene, police said, adding he suffered minor injuries. The male driver and female passenger of the second vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries that police say were not considered life-threatening.

A 27-year-old London man is charged with the following:

  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Dangerous driving
  • Impaired driving causing bodily harm
  • Failing to comply with a demand made by a peace officer

The accused was in custody and was scheduled to appear in London court on Monday, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call London police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).  

Pedestrian at fault in pickup truck collision: Police

No charges were laid after a pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck on Saturday, Chatham-Kent police said.

A 40-year-old woman was struck while running across Sandys Street in Chatham, police said. The woman was taken to hospital in Chatham with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

No charges were laid since it was determined the pedestrian was at fault for crossing the street improperly, police said
