Vintage 1938 Tube train runs heritage trips after vandalism
London Transport MuseumA Tube train vandalised after its restoration to its original 1938 condition will be back on the tracks this weekend.
The London Transport Museum (LTM) planned journeys along the Piccadilly line between Acton Town and Oakwood in June, but had to cancel because of the damage.
The Summer Special event is now running on 20 and 21 July to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the extension of the Metropolitan line out to Uxbridge from Harrow-on-the-Hill station.
There will be special trips on the 1938 burgundy Tube train between those two stations.
London Transport MuseumOn arrival guests will receive a souvenir booklet and meet a costumed actor playing the pioneer in station architecture, Charles Holden, who designed both Acton Town and Uxbridge stations.
London Transport Museum thanked volunteers, curators, and London Underground for the work in returning the train to its “beautiful” state.
