The ongoing 2nd Test between England and Sri Lanka was marked by a spectacular moment as Olly Stone, with his exceptional skills, claimed the wicket of Lankan opener Dimuth Karunaratne at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, London.

Karunaratne departed after scoring 55 runs off 129 balls. During this time, he slammed a total of seven boundaries.

In the 47th over, Stone executed a strategic move with a well-directed short 87 mph delivery. Karunaratne, attempting to fend it off his hips behind square in the leg side, was caught off guard. The ball kept climbing on him, and he loved it. Smith, behind the stumps, seized the opportunity and took a regulation catch. This was a crucial moment as England achieved a much-needed breakthrough.

Spirited Sri Lanka give England a run for their money

Sri Lanka enjoyed a solid morning session on Day 4, scoring 83 runs and losing only two wickets in 30 overs. They ended the session at 136/4, still needing 347 runs to win. Dimuth Karunaratne, who survived a dropped catch and two reviews, scored 55 before being dismissed by Olly Stone.

Angelo Mathews remains unbeaten on 34, with Dinesh Chandimal scoring 15 not out. England’s bowlers have struggled to apply pressure, and they will need to reassess their strategies for the afternoon session.

At the time of writing, Sri Lanka are at 165/4 after lunch.
